Driving a mobile trailer – what you need to know
When it comes to driver licenses and vehicle-trailer weight categories, it is important to understand the following:
Category B: If the total weight of the vehicle and trailer is less than or equal to 3,500 kg, a standard Category B driver’s license is sufficient.
Example: Maximum permissible vehicle weight up to 2,000 kg, and maximum permissible trailer weight up to 1,500 kg.
Category BE: This license category is required when the combined weight of the vehicle and trailer exceeds 3,500 kg (3.5 tons).
Examples:
• Vehicle maximum weight up to 3,000 kg, trailer maximum weight up to 1,400 kg
• Vehicle maximum weight up to 3,500 kg, trailer maximum weight up to 3,500 kg
If you do not hold a BE category license, you can hire a towing service to transport your mobile trailer. This option ensures safe and proper transport without concerns about driver limitations.
